The German Notary Institute (DNotl) in Würzburg, founded in 1993, is a scientific facility of the Federal Chamber of German civil law notaries which provides a consulting service for notaries.

The DNotI aims at the protection and the increase of quality. We want to support notaries to meet the high and still increasing requirements to the quality of notarial documents and the notarial consultation.

Task of the DNotI is to draw up legal opinions and other up-to-date information for the notarial practice. All German notaries are legitimated to consult the DNotI.

The DNotI was founded in spring 1993. Since 1997 all German chambers of notaries have become members of the DNotI, which draws up about 9000 legal opinions a year (2008).
